Ok, so if you’ve not heard, Vine is a new service that’s been announced on the interwebs very recently. So what exactly are we dealing with here, another social network?

Well, not exactly no… But at the same time, yes…

Let me quickly explain… Vine is a new social media gadget released from the boffins over at Twitter. Vine is all about creating videos using your phone or mobile device that are 6 seconds long. Yup. 6 seconds… That wasn’t a typo.

So why should you care?

Well, 6 seconds of video sound pretty pointless right? I mean, how much can you really get in to a 6-second video. To get your creative juices flowing, here’s some ideas we baked earlier.

How-To videos

A quick and snappy how-to video can be massively beneficial to your customers and clients. For example, how to turn on an iMac (have you tried to find the power button on these things!)

You could even have a mini-series of 6 videos; each video containing an individual step in the how-to process, for example. I’ll take my gold star now thanks.

Got a new product on its way soon? Use Vine to record a 6-second teaser to keep your customers on the edge of their seats. Imagine a 6-second clip of the next gen supercar?

Having a sale? Special offers? Record a short promo video to showcase your promotional event.

Alternative to animated GIFs?

Animated GIFs have been around for years. Maybe Vine could soon become a replacement or a strong alternative? Who knows!

One thing I do know, it’s certainly going to be interesting to see how people make Vine their own. Popcorn at the ready…
